Strengthening Community Impact with the Greater Baltimore Urban League

2025 - Present

K. Jennings & Associates (KJA) is honored to serve as both a member and Strategic Advisor to the Greater Baltimore Urban League (GBUL), deepening our commitment to economic empowerment, equity, and opportunity across the Baltimore region. In 2025, Candice Whittaker, a leader in operations and business for the League, invited KJA to formally join the organization’s work, recognizing the value of strategic, relationship-centered guidance during a period of transition and restructuring.

Joining as an Advocate and Strategic Partner

KJA joined GBUL as an advocate member and strategic advisor to its committees, with a focus on strengthening the League’s internal structure so it can better deliver on its mission in the community. In this role, KJA:

  • Provides strategy and direction to the Board and leadership team.

  • Advises committees on priorities, processes, and alignment with the League’s long-term vision.

  • Helps surface operational gaps and opportunities that impact program delivery and organizational sustainability.

This isn’t a surface-level affiliation; it’s a working relationship rooted in trust, accountability, and shared purpose.

Meeting Monthly to Support Restructuring

KJA meets with GBUL leadership and committees once a month, offering ongoing support as the organization navigates restructuring. These conversations are grounded in questions like:

  • How can the League’s programs and services be more cohesive and aligned?

  • Where do operations need to be tightened to better serve the community?

  • What strategic decisions today will strengthen GBUL’s stability and impact tomorrow?

Through this cadence, KJA functions as both a thought partner and a steady guide—helping GBUL clarify priorities, refine its structure, and move forward with intention rather than urgency.

Why This Work Matters to KJA

For K. Jennings & Associates, this partnership is deeply aligned with our values and our identity as a Black woman–led consulting firm serving small businesses and mission-driven organizations. Supporting the Greater Baltimore Urban League means:

  • Standing alongside an institution with a long history of advancing civil rights, economic opportunity, and justice.

  • Bringing small business and community perspectives into strategy conversations that affect Black residents and entrepreneurs.

  • Investing our time and expertise in work that has both immediate and generational implications.

At KJA, relationships and long-lasting partnerships are everything. Our collaboration with the Greater Baltimore Urban League is one more way we show up—not just as consultants, but as committed partners in the work of equity, empowerment, and community-led change.
