Can You Hear Me Now? Black Youth Having Their Say on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention

September 2024

KJA’s resident intern and superstar Kennedy Mackall was invited to speak by the White House! Is there anything she can’t do??

The session, called “Can You Hear Me Now? Black Youth Having Their Say on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention,” amplified the voices of Black youth on the experiences, insights, and solutions to the mounting problem of Black mental health. It was hosted by The White House Office of Public Engagement and The HHS Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

This was a perfect way to honor September’s National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and National Self-Care Awareness Month. It’s a striking reminder of the importance of self-care and mental health for Black individuals - children and adults alike.

Let’s destigmatize mental healthcare and improve the statistics together!
